The unit plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of student assessment throughout the massive UiTM system with more than 380 programmes being offered. The standard and quality of assessments in UiTM is ensured through the adoption of decentralisation of assessments at various campuses in the nation; a strategy most suitably used due to the sheer size of the university itself.

In outcome-based education, it is insufficient to have an effective teaching, learning and assessment without the closing of the loop (CDL). The CDL is a mechanism to measure the effectiveness of the OBE-SCL (student-centered learning) for all courses. The CDL system indicates if the CO-PO-LO-KI (Course Outcomes - Programme Outomes - Lesson Outcome – Kemahiran Insaniah) is aligned. Results from the CDL analysis can be used for continuous quality improvements (CQI).

The CQI is “... assessment and evaluation processes that provide critical information to educators and administrators on the effectiveness of the design, delivery, and direction of an educational program”. Improvements based on feedback from evaluations will close the system loop and the process will continue yearly.
